At this moment I am working on a Squidoo lens about the best Lost theories. Goal of this lens is to show only the ultimate stuff. I will also add links to places where you can watch Lost online. Every episode from season  1 to 4 can be watched without registering or other restraints. I hope I can start some discussion about which theories really are the most intelligent and are really outstanding.

I know at this moment, due to the hiatus, the animo for Lost is less than when a Lost season runs. But I will not be long before the newest Lost episode will start. The first episode is titled Because you left and will air early 2009.

Apart from the Squidoo lens I have started another best Lost theory blog on Blogger.com in which I will try to organize some sort of Best Lost theory election. I would love to make a top 5 of best Lost theories which is put together by each and every Lost fan that is interested. Of course only sound and intelligent theories will apply. Debunked theories or other non relevant hypotheses are out of the equation.  Do you like this idea? Have some comments or questions? Don’t hesitate to comment or mail me.

Some of us can’t wait. We are Lost and we want answers and we want them now. You don’t neccesarily have to wait until the next Lost season starts in early 2009. To be specifically; episode 1 of Lost season 5 will air 1/1 2009 and is titled “Because you left”.

There are a few sources on the internet which can provide you with answers to the Lost show. In this blog post I will give an overview of the best places to look for quality answers to the Lost mysteries. Of course there is no certainty that these answers to the Lost questions are right but I think there are some pretty good explanations of the show’s mysteries. Furthermore I am working on a Squidoo lens about the Best Lost theories. Check it out if you like.

To be clear, it is not my goal to collect all kinds of Lost explanations or weird theories. I just want to show the ultimate answers to the questions we are all asking ourselves. The post below is about my personal top 3.

You should not read them if you don´t want to know what some of the smartest people their opinions are about the LOST mysteries. You also should not read them when you are not interested in awesome backgrounds and intriguing facts about history, philosophy, psychology, science, religion, ancient cultures and many more regarding the show. And maybe you should not read on because this blog will show you an overview of the 3 best Lost theories on the net.

The creators of these theories have applied their knowledge to these theories, thus trying to unravel the Lost mysteries. Their dedication and refreshing idea’s sparked me to write this blog post. I wanted to put the best overall theories together so people who don’t read and search forums as much as I do can view the best theories in a glimpse. To keep it simple I have chosen to put together a top 3 of what I think are the best Lost theories.

Lost Answers

Allthough I really digg Lost I have to place some critical, or maybe you will call them cynical, reflections. A question that has been asked a lot is whether we, the viewers and fans eventually will get answers. And in what amount that will be. Personally I, and I guess with me lots of other fans, will be dissapointed if we will get only a few answers. But maybe I’m running ahead on matter. ABC’s President of Entertainment Stephen Mc Pherson has anounced that the end of Lost in 2010 will be a “highly anticipated and shocking finale.” Mc Pherson also said that the writers will: “….keep the integrity and strength of the show consistent throughout, and to give the audience the payoff they deserve. ”

I think we should believe him on his word ( at least for now) and enjoy the fabulous explanations of the Lost mysteries some people have come up with. But then again, if in 2010 turns out that one of the Lost theories proves to be right we still will never know if Abrams, Cuse and Lindelof had this this in their mind from scratch or that the fans of the show have actually written it. Because that is one of the tough rumors that is circulating the show. Enough cynical stuff. At least for now.

Top 3

The three theories are all entertaining. I think the first one is very much hitting the spot when it comes to unravelling mysteries. It really is what Lost is all about and gives you a preview of the answers we will get in the next seasons. The second theory is, at least at some points, also very accurate. But in contrary to my number 1 theory, the Timelooptheory, I think this adresses more of the background lines of the series. We won’t necessarily get affirmation at the end of the show . At least that’s my expectation.

What do you think?

Are these three the most headsmacking theories on the net? I am anxious to know what you think of these theories. Are you with me or do you think there are much better theories that I maybe don’t even know existing?

In the previous posts I have given a short description of the theory and why in my opinion that theory belongs to the top 3. And of course there is a link to the website or forum where the original theory is to be found. All credits to the guys ( there are no girls in the top three at this moment) who have invented these ingenious concepts. Enjoy!

Real die hard Lost fans read Lost theories and think of their own theories. That’s what makes Lost even more attractive. But where to find the best theories on Lost? I think I know where. The most interesting and intelligent ramblings on Lost can be found on the Eyemsick blog, on EW.com (Jeff Jensen), Darkufo offers the SD Wynn theories and of course not to forget the Timelooptheory.

I think these are the best and there are no competitors. But I might be wrong. Do you know of another theory that can compare with the ones mentioned above?

p.s. Do you think Ben Linus is a bad guy? I don’t think so even if it looks very much like it. I am a fan of Ben and think he’s a hero.

Timelooptheory

A theory on time travel

By Jason Hunter

I want to warn you right upfront. Maybe when you are new to Lost theories you shouldn’t read further. Because in fact this theory is one major big spoiler. I say this because I think the creator is right. This is what Lost is all about. Maybe I am wrong but in that case the Lost writers will face a pretty big challenge wanting to exceed this. Ok, well maybe I am exaggerating a bit. Where the Timelooptheory is concentrating on a few aspects of Lost, there still are much mysteries to be resolved. This theory is very well thought out and it diggs pretty deep into it´s main themes which are time travel, fate, free will and course correction of the universe. Jason Hunter provides much examples which sustain his propositions. However it must be noted as he says that “ this theory is complete conjecture and I make no claim that this theory is the definitive “answer” to the show it should be read for entertainment purposes only.” Well entertaining it is!

Decisions you made in the past will influence the future but when you go back in time, can you alter the past and thus the future?

A timeline starting from the 19th century with the Black Rock ending up on the island untill 2007 with some of the Losties living outside the island again. This is all about different timelines. Jason Hunter describes the lifes of Ben, his mother, Richard Alpert and John Locke and how they have used the time machine to alter their lifes.

According to Jason Hunter many of the other experiments on the island are some kind of decoy. When Dharma Initiative had invented the time machine they decided to keep this knowledge restricted to a small amount of people. So some of the stations maybe only exist to hide the real purpose of the research on the island. The pile of tubes from the Pearl station with logbooks in it could be a clue to this assumption.

Allthough the writer sproclaims his theory probably isn’t 100% true I think this guy might be very close to what the Lost writers meant. When reading this you can’t withdraw yourself to the realisation that this is really making sense. It ties some ends together but it also leaves much questions unanswered. The downside is that this awesome theory adresses issues that are present in many other theories or shorter explanations. Allthough this is the best one of it’s kind. Read the Timeloop Theory.

Look at my other post for my personal top 3 Lost theories. My second best theory and of course the third are also very interesting. The second best theory is about mysteries in the show that are less disussed. Not only by Hunter but at the internet at large. For example it is about what the purpose is of those Egyptian hieroglyphs or what’s up with the numbers of the Valenzetti equation. That’s one of the reasons why the second theory is so appealing. More about that in the previous post.

The Great Gedanken Experiment, Plato’s Atlantis Rebuilt & Lost in the Kabbalah

Three additional and very interesting theories!

By SD Wynn

This theory consists of three separate blog posts. Actually the three posts are not supplemental. They each have their own approach. Nevertheless they rock! At some point reading you might ask yourself where does this go, but if you’ll read on the pieces will fall into place. Just read it, it’s very interesting.

The three theories of SD Wynn are also comprehensive but more widespread . Where Jason Hunter’s Timelooptheory is mainly focussed on a time machine, time travel and different time lines, Wynn’s (or Wynnter’s) theories appoint to much more aspects of Lost like mythology, Atlantis, the Dharma stations and much more.

These insights are more about the mythology and symbolics in the show. Like in many movies and tv programs there are these symbolical backgrounds which often aren’t even noticed by many. Most of the times it’s no necessity to be able enjoy the show. It’s just an extra. Nontheless I find them very interesting. I guess he adresses things that perhaps will never be explained just because they are background lines. Another thing that gives this theory an edge is the explanation of the numbers. Wynnter attachs the numbers to the Valenzetti equation ( he is surely not the only one) and it has been revealed by the writers of the show that this actually is true.

The Great Gedanken Experiment and Schrodingers Cat.

This is the first theory of Wynnter and it’s mainly about quantum mechanics, time travel and fate. He claims that Lost is one big thought experiment. “What if you could travel back in time and would not know it?” A gedanken experiment is a sort of virtual experiment because it can’t actually be performed in real life.

Despite the many theories that abound in online forums, the Others did not know that Flight 815 was coming or going to crash at the Island. It was a chance encounter. It was a disaster that created a paradox… what happens to a plane that crashes in the present, while entering the past? This leads to the question of whether the passengers are alive or dead, answered by talking about a cat.

Read The Great Gedanken Experiment and Schrodingers Cat.

Plato’s Atlantis Rebuilt, As the Osirian clock ticks to apocalypse.

This is Wynnter’s second theory and it is an approach from a complete other angle. Allthough I think this one is not as good as the first and third theory, it’s still fun to read. Where there are lots of theories on the internet trying to answer questions about the black rock and time travel, this Plato’s Antlantis Rebuilt theory attempts to explain the hieroglyphs, the chambers, the Valenzetti Equation, and the blast door map.

Read Plato’s Atlantis Rebuilt, As the Osirian clock ticks to apocalypse.

Lost in the Kabbalah, A passion play of Isis, Osiris and Horus

His last posting is called “Lost in the Kabbalah, A passion play of Isis, Osiris and Horus” This one enters deeper into ancient mythology, Kabbalah and the all-seeing eye of Osiris. Claire, Charlie and Aaron are in the spotlight in this point of view. An intriguing remark on why Charlie isn’t really dead and we will see him again is one of the things you can read here.

Read Lost in the Kabbalah, A passion play of Isis, Osiris and Horus.

The three posts are some kind of follow ups and together they make a very interesting partial explanation of some of the Lost mysteries. As the writer says himself: “It doesn’t come close to answering everything, nor does it seek to, but it does provide a lens through which you can better understand the show while watching. “ There isn’t a dedicated website for these theories but I’ll link to both the separate blog posts where these theories can be read.

At one side I think this is a pity because with his erudite point of view maybe more mysteries could be explained. On the other hand, this theory is very original. SD Wynn shows he is blessed with many scientific and mythological insights.

Lost is a video game just like the Sims.

By all_games

This is a very nice theory. It is put together extremely well. All_games ( the writer of this theory) is “abolutely convinced that Lost is actually a video game”. Well I am not so sure about that but this is why I think you should read his theory.

The “Lost is a game theory” is about characters playing roles in the game, game levels, instructions, taking the good or the bad side, finishing levels and much more. It shows that Lost is drenched with clues that point to the fact that Lost in fact could be a game. In addition there are plenty references to games and sports. Just an example: Lost is all about opposites. Contrasts have been prevalent in the Lost episodes. Black versus white, good versus bad. And as all_games states the opposite of won is? Right, it is Lost. Again a reference to the game that Lost has to be according to the inventor of this theory. Ok that probably will not convince you. I admit that wasn’t the best example but there is more. Much more.

Two players. Two sides. One is light. One is dark.” Locke S1E2

You might throw back at me that this theory is too far stretched and it is almost obvious that a theory like the Timelooptheory has a higher credibility. Then you must know that the creators of Lost already stated in 2005 that there is no time travel involved in the show. So all three options (and many more) are still open.

Then again, if I am honest I don’t really like the idea that Lost is a game. There should be more to it. For me it will be a deception if it would turn out to be a game at the end of the show in 2010. It would be like watching an exiting movie and at the end the story turns out to be a dream. That’s the ultimate anticlimax in tv and movies if you ask me.

In contrary to the writer I personally don’t think Lost is a game. But nevertheless I still like this theory very much. Why? Because it makes you think about lot’s of aspects of the show. And it sure is put together very well. If you take the time and read it you are going to think: “Well maybe this guy is right, maybe Lost is a game.” At least that is what I thought. If you are interested in different views or opinions on the Lost mysteries you should really take the time to read this. That’s why I think this is one of the best theories around but it sure is not the ultimate theory. I prefer theories with insights from all kinds of historical facts, technology, myths et cetera. I would love to know your opinion. Are you with me or do you think there are much better theories that I maybe don’t even know exist?
